Nick,
I’m writing you this letter to express my thanks to you for pushing me out of a tree when we were 12 years old. I’m not sure what you were thinking or why you found such humor in my misfortune but I forgive you. Even though I landed on a rock and my leg got split open and broken in two places and I got knocked out I forgive you because I probably would have done the same.
Even though you caused me an immense amount of pain and I was taken to the hospital twenty minutes after the fall I do appreciate your companionship and willingness to accompany me on that trip. I also appreciate the expression of your interest while I was getting the giant hole in my leg stitched up. I also found the fact you wanted to go back to the hospital 5 days later when I got my hard cast on the off chance that I would start crying so you could get another cheap laugh quite admirable.
It takes either a true friend or a bitter enemy to push someone out of a tree and force then into a 20 ft. free fall, but it takes an honest friend to accompany that person on the way to the hospital. But it takes an even stronger friend or an even stronger enemy to get revenge!
Even though I was stuck in a cast and the rest of my summer was pretty much shot I do appreciate you not getting pissed when I get my revenge.
It takes a real man (even though you were only 12 years old) to get his hand crushed in a car door and not cry! I didn’t mean to do it but it’s not my fault that as I was getting out of the car and as I began to throw the door shut you decided you were going to put your hand there for some absurd reason. Even though I did crush your hand and break three bones I didn’t really feel bad since it wasn’t nearly as bad as the pain you caused me (although you made it sound much worse via the repulsive screams and howls you wouldn’t stop belting out).
I guess I’m just writing you to let you know that I’m glad we have a give give relationship and we can be assured that if one of does something to harm the other vengeance will be sought.
